“Winchester: First Time...Fast Time”
This past weekend, we made a trip to Winchester, IN. to the famed Winchester Speedway. This ½ mile high banked track was a huge 33 degree banking and very fast. Most Nascar drivers have been there at least once in their career. Even though our funds have ran out for this racing season, I said at the beginning of the year, I was going to save enough money to at least go to Winchester and I’m glad I did. We unloaded the car and was 4th quick right off the trailer in the first hot lap session which was awesome, since we had never been there before. You pretty much run wide open all the way around the race track about 12” from the wall at about 130mph. We made a small adjustment on the tires and ran 2nd quick in the second hot lap session. Then it was time for qualifying. Everybody usually steps up their game for qualifying, so I just held my breath for two laps and held the gas pedal to the floor and we ended up being the fastest qualifying car in the USA mods. This was real exciting because I haven’t had fast time in a while and going to a track that is very hard to drive and never been there before was a big accomplishment for our team. To make the day even better we finished 2nd in the USA feature and that transferred us to a battle between the USA Modified Series and the American Modified Series for a straight up battle to see who was the best. The USA guys were on Hoosiers and the American mods were on Goodyear tires. We had a very good run as well, finishing second highest on Hoosiers, but the Goodyear tires were about a half of a second quicker than Hoosiers and we finished overall 7th in that race. Special thanks to veteran driver Harold Scott for helping me, along with Richard Rieter (Crew Chief), Mom and Dad, and car owner Steve Brown for the awesome opportunity. Thanks again guys!
For the rest of the year we are going to focus our efforts on finding a primary sponsor for our race team. Our team has 3 complete race ready modifies, 2 Latemodels , a new Limited Latemodel chassis coming together and a dirt car for Hartford Speedway. We have an awesome team owner, shop and equipment and hope to run the complete USA series if we can find a primary sponsor for 2009.
“Race Season Currently on HOLD”
2008 has been a challenging year for our race team as we have yet to secure a primary sponsor. We want to thank all of our sponsors, friends, family and team members as they have helped us complete and be competetive in many races this season. We have raced this season on our winnings, but those funds have dried up and until we are able to secure a sponsor, our team will be on hold. With 9 races under our belt this season and all but one of them finishing in the top 10, we call that success. The weather has rained out another 4 races. So, if you know anyone who would like to sponsor a race team with good results, send them our way! Until then....see you at the track, as a spectator!
